Quick Start
This guide will walk you through the entire process of creating an audio description. Each step will be explained in greater detail in the following chapters.

For your first project, we recommend starting with a short video—ideally no longer than five minutes. This will allow you to quickly practice the process before moving on to your first “real” project. Don’t have a film ready? No problem! You can download the first minute of the movie Big Buck Bunny to get started.
Create A Project
Register first. You will then automatically be taken to the project list.
- Click on “New Project”.
- Enter a title for your project.
- Set the language for the project.
- Optional: Add a note to the project.
- Click on “Create project.”
You will now see the project overview. A checklist in the upper-right corner will guide you through the project and indicate what to do next.
Upload a Video
Once your project is created, you can upload a video.
- In the project overview, click “New Video” to the right of the “Basic Information” section.
- Select your video. It will begin uploading, and the progress bar will gradually turn green.
- Wait for the upload to complete. Then click on “Save”.
- The system will initialize the project. Depending on the length of the video, this process may take a few minutes.
- Check the checklist in the top-right corner to track how many steps have been completed (e.g., 2/6).
- Once initialization is complete, your browser will refresh the project overview, and a preview of your video will be displayed. You will also receive an email notification.
Tip 1: You can work on other tasks during the upload and subsequent initialization—but the upload window must stay open! If you want to work on another project at the same time, simply open a second browser window or a new tab.
Tip 2: If you don’t want to upload the video, you can open it directly from your hard drive using Local Mode. See the Local Mode chapter. For details on supported video formats, check the Upload Video chapter.
Create a Document
Once the project is initialized, you can create a document.
- Click “New Document”.
- Enter a title for the document.
- Select the language for the audio description.
- Click “Create.”
You will now be redirected to the editor.
Export Document
You can export a document either from the project overview or directly from the editor toolbar (bottom-right context menu).
- Open the context menu.
- Select “Export document…”.
- Shoose a document type.
- Click “Download”.
Tip: In the trial version, only the first 10 text blocks of a document can be exported. After subscribing, you can download the entire manuscript.
Export Formats
We currently support the following formats for export.
Text
- SubRip (.srt)
- WebVTT (.vtt)
Tables
- CSV (.csv)
- Stellar (.csv)
- Excel (.xIsx)
Office Open XML / Word
- Word Document (.docx)
- Word Document Tabellenform (.docx)
XML
- EXMARaLDA (.exb)
- TTML2 - ADPT (.ttml)
- Starfish (.xml)
Need another format? Let us know by contacting support.
Create a Backup
Frazier automatically saves every text change to the server. However, we recommend regularly backing up your work. A backup file allows you to restore documents, even from deleted or completed projects. Get into the habit of exporting your document at the end of each workday.
Important! Use the .adc format for backups. Other formats don’t contain all the necessary data. such as the voice settings.
Delete a Project
Ready to clear out space for new projects? Here’s how to delete a project:
- Return to the project overview.
- Open the context menu in the upper-right corner of the project title.
- Select “Delete…”
- Review the list of data that will be deleted.
- Click “Delete” and confirm your action.
What’s Next?
That’s it for the quick introduction to Frazier! There’s still so much more to discover.
Have fun writing lots of great audio descriptions!
