Configure Editor

Customize Frazier to suit your preferences.

General

Layout
By default, the video is on the left and the document is on the right. If needed, you can simply swap the order.
Multi Color Waveform
Are you working in a document with multiple voices, for example, to have subtitles read out? For better overview, a different color can be used for each voice. However, with many voices, it can become quite colorful, so this option is not enabled by default. 😉
Show Editor Tour
Would you like to repeat the editor tour? Check the box, then open any document. Frazier will guide you through the basic features of the editor again.
Announce comments with a beep during video playback.
This option is particularly useful when working with a screen reader.

Video

Media Source
Decide how you want to manage videos. Choose “Server” if you always want to upload films, “Local Mode” if you only want to work locally, or “Always Ask” to decide based on the situation and project.
Video Resolution in the Editor
The video playback quality depends on your internet connection speed. By default, a smaller version of the video is displayed in the editor to save bandwidth. If you have a very fast internet connection (>50Mbit/s), you can increase the video quality. Note that this setting applies only to new projects, as it is taken into account when initializing the project.
Frame Rate for New Projects
Set the frame rate (frames per second) of the video. The editor will then round the frame display correctly. This setting is also taken into account when exporting a document.

Supported frame rates:

  • 23.98 fps (Cinema for TV/NTSC)
  • 24.00 fps (Cinema)
  • 25.00 fps (TV/PAL)
  • 29.97 fps (TV/NTSC, Non-Drop Frame)
  • 30.00 fps or 29.97 fps (TV/NTSC, Drop Frame)
  • 50.00 fps (TV/PAL, HD)
  • 59.94 fps (TV/NTSC, Non-Drop Frame)
  • 60.00 fps or 59.94 fps (TV/NTSC, Drop Frame)

Text Editor

Automatic Focus for New Text Blocks
For scripts with instructions, you can specify which input field should be automatically focused when creating a new text block. Choose “Dialogue / Instructions” if you regularly work with these additional details. Choose “Text / Description” if you only occasionally add instructions and want to focus primarily on the description. This option has no effect for scripts without instructions.
Paste Behaviour
When pasting text from the clipboard, you can either “preserve formatting” or have Frazier “remove formatting” automatically. If you select “preserve formatting,” be cautious when copying text from outside into Frazier. If necessary, you can paste the copied text without formatting using “Ctrl” + “Shift” + “V” (Mac: “Cmd” + “Shift” + “V”).

Keyboard Shortcuts

You can overwrite some of the keyboard Shortcuts in the editor. Please note that Frazier is a web application, so many keyboard shortcuts are pre-assigned by your browser, including:

  • “F1” = Help
  • “F5” = Reload page
  • “F11” = Full screen mode
  • “Ctrl” + “F” = Search
  • etc.

Other keys, such as “Tab,” “Esc,” and “Enter,” also have fixed assignments that cannot be reassigned. You can use numbers, letters, special characters, as well as “F7,” “F8,” and “F9.”
